Live Tracking
Monitor active trips in real time on an interactive map -- track driver positions, view trip progress, and review historical trip routes.
The Live Tracking page provides a real-time map view of your entire fleet. You can see where every active driver is, which trips are in progress, and how each trip is progressing against its planned route. This is the primary situational-awareness tool for dispatchers.
Navigation: Dispatch > Live Tracking
Purpose
Real-time visibility is essential for managing a fleet effectively. The Live Tracking page allows you to:
- Monitor all active trips on an interactive map with live GPS positions
- See driver locations, directions of travel, and estimated arrival times
- Track trip progress against planned routes
- Identify potential issues (delays, route deviations, extended stops)
- Review completed trip routes and replay past journeys
Map View
The main area of the page is a full-screen interactive map showing your operational area. Key map elements include:
Driver Markers
Each active driver is represented by a marker on the map:
| Marker Color | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Green | Driver is Online and available for assignment |
| Blue | Driver is currently en route to a pickup or on an active trip |
| Orange | Driver is on break |
| Gray | Driver's last known position (currently offline) |
Clicking on a driver marker shows a popup with:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Driver Name | The driver's full name |
| Vehicle | Plate number and vehicle model |
| Status | Current operational status |
| Current Trip | Trip ID and destination (if on a trip) |
| Speed | Current speed (from GPS data) |
| Last Updated | Timestamp of the last GPS position update |
Trip Routes
For active trips (In Progress), the map displays:
- Pickup marker -- The trip's pickup location
- Dropoff marker -- The trip's destination
- Planned route -- A line showing the expected route from pickup to dropoff
- Actual path -- A colored trail showing the route the driver has actually taken
- ETA -- Estimated time of arrival at the destination based on current position and traffic
Geofencing and Zones
If your company has configured operational zones:
- Zone boundaries are displayed as colored overlays on the map
- Trips that cross zone boundaries are highlighted
- Zone-specific pricing rules apply automatically
Trip Monitoring Panel
A collapsible side panel lists all currently active trips with quick-reference information:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Trip ID | The trip identifier |
| Driver | Assigned driver name |
| Client | The client who requested the trip |
| Status | Current trip status (En Route to Pickup, Arrived, In Progress) |
| Pickup | Pickup location summary |
| Dropoff | Destination summary |
| ETA | Estimated time of arrival at destination |
| Duration | How long the trip has been running |
Clicking a trip in the panel centers the map on that trip and highlights its route.
Status Indicators
Each trip in the panel displays a status indicator:
| Indicator | Meaning |
|---|---|
| On Schedule | The trip is progressing as expected |
| Delayed | The trip is behind schedule (based on ETA comparison) |
| Route Deviation | The driver has deviated significantly from the planned route |
| Extended Stop | The driver has been stationary for an unusually long time during an active trip |
When a "Route Deviation" or "Extended Stop" alert appears, check in with the driver. While most deviations have legitimate reasons (road closures, passenger requests), they can also indicate issues that require dispatcher attention.
Filtering the Map
Use the toolbar at the top of the map to filter what is displayed:
| Filter | Description |
|---|---|
| Driver Status | Show only Online, On Trip, or all drivers |
| Vehicle Type | Filter by vehicle category |
| Trip Status | Show only specific trip statuses (e.g., only In Progress trips) |
| Zone | Focus on a specific operational zone |
| Search | Search by driver name, trip ID, or client name to quickly locate a specific element on the map |
Trip History and Replay
In addition to live tracking, the page offers a trip history feature:
Viewing a Completed Trip Route
- Use the date selector to choose a past date.
- Select a completed trip from the history list.
- The map displays the trip's actual route as recorded by GPS.
Trip Replay
For completed trips, you can use the Replay feature to watch a time-lapse animation of the driver's journey:
- A playback slider allows you to scrub through the trip timeline
- Speed controls let you adjust the replay speed (1x, 2x, 4x, 8x)
- Key events are marked on the timeline (pickup, stops, dropoff)
Trip replay is useful for investigating disputes, verifying route efficiency, and training dispatchers on common route patterns in your operational area.
Alerts and Notifications
The Live Tracking page can generate real-time alerts:
| Alert | Trigger | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Late Pickup | Driver has not arrived at the pickup location by the scheduled time | Investigate and contact the driver |
| Extended Wait | Driver has been waiting at the pickup for more than the configured threshold | Check if the passenger is delayed or a no-show |
| Route Deviation | Driver has departed significantly from the planned route | Contact the driver to verify the reason |
| Speed Alert | Driver is exceeding the configured maximum speed limit | Safety concern -- follow up with the driver |
| Long Idle | Vehicle has been stationary for an extended period during an active trip | Check for issues -- possible breakdown or unauthorized stop |
Tips
Keep the Live Tracking page open on a dedicated monitor in your dispatch office. This gives your team a constant overview of fleet activity and helps identify issues before they escalate.
Use the trip replay feature at the end of each day to review any trips that were flagged with alerts. This helps maintain service quality and provides documentation for client inquiries.
Clients
Manage your client database within the Dispatch module -- add new clients, edit client information, view booking history, and maintain client records.
Peak Hours
Configure peak hour time windows and pricing multipliers -- adjust fares automatically based on demand periods, weekdays, weekends, and special events.
